One of the first publicly funded shelters, the Shelter for Domestic Violence Survivors has provided safe refuge and onsite social services for survivors of domestic violence and their children since 1977. During their stay, residents are educated on family safety, non-violent relationship choices, economic self-sufficiency, and finding and maintaining permanent housing.

The YWCA Greenwich has been providing critical domestic abuse services in Greenwich for over 40 years. Through the Harmony Project, they help address violence and abuse in the community through public awareness, professional training, violence prevention programs, and sustainability services such as housing, civil legal guidance, and financial empowerment.

Victim Connect strives to empower people who have suffered through the effects of crime. They host a 24/7 hotline for victims of domestic abuse and provide numerous services and resources to help victims get back on their feet.

Love is Respect helps educate its visitors on healthy relationship practices and how to date safely. They also offer support groups and educational materials that can be used to teach others about relationship hygiene.

The NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault works to prevent assault by researching underlying factors. The organization also addresses the needs of sexual assault victims to help them regain confidence. If you’re interested in advocacy work, they are always looking for volunteers to help spread awareness about important policy decisions.

Bulletproof Cosmetics works towards spreading encouragement and promoting confidence to empower women. They strive to help those in abusive relationships by providing legal and educational assistance and connecting them to others in similar situations. Funding for these resources comes from the proceeds of their signature lipstick pendants.
